Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The party office of TMC councillor Elora Saha in Ward 25 was burgled when a thief managed to steal 12 valuable chairs. The theft occurred against the backdrop of political turmoil in Kolkata, where tensions were already high following the recent attempted murder of TMC councillor Sushanta Ghosh.
The incident began when a man, posing as a worker from the party office, approached a cheese shopkeeper near the office. He requested the key to the party office, claiming he needed to collect dengue-related banners and flexes for an ongoing campaign. The shopkeeper, trusting the individual’s story, handed over the key to the office. The thief then entered the office and removed 12 chairs, which are said to be of high value.
The theft was discovered when Saha’s husband arrived to open the office and found the chairs missing. The councillor’s team immediately informed the Pathuriaghata police, and a formal complaint was filed. The police began reviewing CCTV footage from the area, which captured the suspect carrying out the theft. The footage has provided crucial evidence, showing the thief taking the chairs from the office. Despite this, Councillor Saha has expressed dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation, as no arrests have been made yet. The police have assured that efforts are underway to trace the suspect, and further action will be taken based on the investigation.
